About the project
The South Korean tyre manufacturer Hankook supplies premium tyres for VW and Mercedes, among others, from their new plant, south of Budapest. Schrack Seconet installed their fire alarm system, including fire alarms for production halls, the high warehouse and the employee hotel.
Hankook has a large tyre factory near Budapest and the ASD 535 special fire detectors now ensure reliable fire detection in the high halls, even with high-dust pollution.
Hankook was the first tyre manufacturer in Korea in 1941. Today, the South-Korean pioneer is the seventh largest tyre company in the world. A new tyre factory was built near Dunaújváros in 2006, 60 kms south of Budapest. Samsung was responsible for coordinating the four construction phases, three of which have already been completed. Fire safety was placed in the experienced hands of Schrack Seconet. Dust pollution and the height of the halls are two parameters that require particularly sophisticated technologies when it comes to fire detectors and fire alarm systems.
About the solution
Special fire detectors ASD 535 have been installed by Schrack Seconet in the automated high rise warehouses, which now reliably detects a fire, even when there is a lot of dust from production. Additionally, there are now several thousand CUBUS detectors installed in the entire factory as well as in the connected employee hotel. They have been installed based on the requirements, like smoke, temperature or combined detectors, for the specific area of application. Two Schrack Seconet employees remain on site all year round for maintenance tasks. They are supported by the SecoLOG alarm management system for central display and operation of the fire alarm system. The plant is a Seconet network with several powerful Integral MX control panels, optimised for the protection of large industrial buildings. An independent subcontrol unit loop, controlled by two MX control panels, has been implemented to take care of smoke and heat exhaust, in the event of a fire.
During the construction and installation phase, a Schrack Seconet project manager was permanently on location. The intensive effort paid off: Schrack Seconet will also be part of the expected fourth construction phase. Excellent cooperation with Samsung, also means there is already a follow-up order for the fire safety of a battery factory for electric cars in Göd.
