About the project
The Silhouette Group, based in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, has been one of the market leaders in the production of premium rimless eyewear for over 60 years and has also grown strongly in the full-rim eyewear segment. As an independent, family-run company, The Silhouette Group pursues a clear philosophy: eyewear must be manufactured responsibly and sustainably. Innovation and craftsmanship are at the heart of this philosophy.
What was once a start-up has now become a global company with 13 international sales offices and a regional office.
About the solution
As a full-service provider, the company manufactures all of its Silhouette, evil eye and NEBAU brand eyewear in Linz and distributes it to over 100 countries. To prevent production stoppages, it was necessary to ensure that protection in the event of a fire was continuously guaranteed. The new fire alarm system was therefore replaced step by step during ongoing operations.
This presented the colleagues with a number of challenges: most of the cables were connected via patch panels, which made it difficult to identify and clean up the cables. In addition, LST systems can operate in mixed operation (loop and stub) – a fact that was not apparent in advance and led to problems during commissioning. These were solved by rearranging, rewiring and adapting modules.
It was also because of this flexibility and technical expertise that The Silhouette Group chose Schrack Seconet. ‘We chose Schrack Seconet because, in addition to a technically innovative fire alarm system, a reliable partnership and good support were crucial for us,’ says Thomas Eder, Head of Facility Management.
The customer is also extremely satisfied with the operation of the system and the products used. Eight sub-control units from the Integral EvoxX family with the new Integral IMAP operating panel were installed – making The Silhouette Group the first project in Upper Austria to use this new operating panel. The solution is complemented by two self-sufficient extinguishing control panels, five remote operating panels, around 1,300 automatic and non-automatic detectors, approximately 130 fire incident control systems, and sprinkler and extinguishing systems for production.
