Fish Factory Sardina

A good catch guaranteed

About the project

In 1907, the Viennese industrialist Karl Varhaneck founded a fish factory in Postira, on the Croatian island of Brac; He named it Sardina. With 17 million cans of fish and about 1,500 tons of farmed white fish and tuna per year, this facility has become one of the country's leading fish processing plants. It exports its products all over the world – from Australia to Canada. In addition to establising the company, a further connection with Austria occured in 2013: The most modern fish-processing facility in the Mediterranean was equipped with fire alarm systems from Schrack Seconet. A new Sardina factory opened on 20 August 2013, where seafood is processed, packaged and stored at -40°C over an area of 15,000 square metres. More than 300 employees produce up to 200,000 cans of fish products per day.

About the solution

The fire alarm systems from Schrack Seconet ensures optimum security in this modern facility. Together with the extensive know-how of our Croatian installation partner and the wide range of products, Shrack Seconet successfully provides the best-possible protection for the various sectors of the plant.

Thanks to the innovative CUBUS detector technology and the special linear smoke detectors, the extreme temperature differences between production and the deep-freeze sector can be managed and fires can be reliably detected. The process heat in the plant is produced with biomass in an environmentally-friendly way. High fire hazards near the pellet cellar and boilers require particularly fast, reliable detection and alarm notification. This is an ideal task for Integral IP and Schrack Seconet's systems ensure Sardina has a good catch today and in the future.
