Future-oriented solutions for Dow
About the project
Dow Chemical is a leading international chemical company with headquarters in Midland/Michigan, USA. With 188 sites in 36 countries, Dow Chemical produces more than 5,000 different everyday products, including basic and specialty chemicals and high-performance materials.
About the solution
In view of Dow Chemical's product portfolio, it's essential that production facilities are equipped with a modern, reliable fire alarm system. Schrack Seconet is responsible for equipping the Terneuzen site in the Netherlands with seven Integral IP MX fire alarm control panels. These have been networked together by fibre optic cables and can now easily be connected to the existing 90 fire alarm control panels, which have been installed at a distance of up to 2.5 km.
Using intelligent software applications, the fire alarm control panel and the platform software can now be monitored remotely, from any location, using a client or a server solution. This allows appropriate measures to happen quickly and efficiently. All fire alarm systems on the 3x3 km site, located in the Dow control room, are monitored by a superordinated management system from Beveco – a company from the Netherlands specialising in integrated management software. The management system also has its own redundant FMS optical fibre network.
The technicians of the Dutch partner company Profs4Security have provided all the hardware in the form of 19-inch cabinets.
After an intensive factory acceptance test, the plants were handed over to the chemical company Dow and they carefully prepared the entire infrastructure, including all cabling, in advance. The existing system was then gradually moved to the new platform.
