Trendsetters think differently
Semiconductor manufacturer NXP Austria
NXP Semiconductors Austria in Gratkorn near Graz is one of the world's leading companies in the field of innovative microchip technology. There are now around 650 employees from 45 nations working in Gratkorn. The highest quality standards are a matter of course for NXP. Schrack Seconet has been providing essential services for this for many years: video, fire alarm systems and a higher-level control centre have been implemented by Schrack Seconet and are continuously being further developed.
Well-coordinated collaboration
Schrack Seconet has been responsible for fire protection technology in Gratkorn practically since NXP was established. ‘I have been familiar with the fire protection systems at NXP for many years and know all about the special features. This considerably shortens the implementation time and decision-making processes,’ explains project manager Michael Haring.
As facility manager, Bernhard Konrad from NXP works with over 100 suppliers – keeping contacts as close as possible is an important criterion for him, but ongoing exchange is also important to him: ‘We have regular meetings with Schrack Seconet, discuss everything and that's precisely why our collaboration works so well,’ says Bernhard Konrad.
The contact persons on both sides know each other and understand how the other person thinks. This is particularly helpful for the many ongoing, often short-term changes. The system landscape at NXP is growing and changing rapidly, and the company operates in a fast-moving industry: ‘In the semiconductor industry, you can't plan for the long term. We have a maximum of two years of forecasting in the investment budget,’ says Bernhard Konrad.
Full protection fire alarm system
A total of four fire alarm control panels and around 950 detectors are active throughout the site to detect fires. As part of successive expansions, several sub-centres have been installed that are networked with each other and thus jointly ensure optimal fire detection on an IP basis. The individual components of the security concept come together at the SecoLOG control centre. It presents all topics, including other building management systems, in a visually appealing and clearly laid out way – so the security service has a constant overview of all areas, 24/7. Every alarm in a system is displayed immediately, and certain information is passed on automatically. This always ensures a rapid response.
For the protection of people and values.
