Lydia Edelmann
Accounting & Contract Management
Even as a child, Lydia had a knack for organization. While others simply played cards, she would sort the deck into the correct order as she put them away. She was fascinated by structures—and by numbers as well. Her original dream of becoming a teacher gradually gave way to the idea of working in an office. So she began an apprenticeship at a business school and started her first job at a tax consulting firm.
Over 20 years ago, the native of Southern Styria moved to Vienna. With her new home came a new job as an accountant at Schrack Seconet. Looking back at her career, one thing stands out: constant professional growth. From accounts payable to accounts receivable, from the general ledger to financial reporting, she has personally experienced and helped shape nearly every aspect of accounting over the past few years. Every project, every system migration, and every deadline presented a new challenge, which she mastered with structure and perseverance.
A job that rarely follows a routine
The typical workday starts off structured: checking emails, reviewing bank transactions. After that, the inbox determines what the day will bring. Her to-do list is her daily companion and provides the necessary guidance. For Lydia, good accountants need three things above all: accuracy, perseverance, and an eye for the big picture. Because in the end, all the information converges in her department, and it requires the necessary background knowledge. That’s what makes the job so exciting for her.
What Schrack Seconet and chocolate have in common
Outside of work, Lydia finds balance through physical activity: twice a week at Zumba and daily walks with her dog help her recharge her batteries and clear her head. For a quick energy boost in between, she prefers to reach for chocolate. Fittingly, her answer to the question of which supermarket aisle Schrack Seconet would be on if it were a food item is: the candy aisle, because that’s where she always likes to go. What she particularly values is the friendly atmosphere: cross-departmental friendliness, shared activities like celebrations and running events, and a sense of teamwork that has shaped her daily work life for many years.
