Innovative early fire detection technology

In a world where fire hazards are omnipresent, early detection is crucial. Especially in environments characterised by dirt, dust, moisture and extreme temperatures, conventional systems often reach their limits. This is where the innovative thermal video fire detection comes in. It recognises sources of fire by detecting critical temperature thresholds and is specially designed for use in the most difficult environments. With its ability to work reliably even in open or high halls, in open spaces and under the influence of weather, it offers early fire detection and protects valuable resources. The M73 thermal camera is also EN54-10 approved, ensuring that your facilities are protected in accordance with the standards.

How the thermal camera works

The camera uses highly sensitive thermal imaging sensors to continuously monitor the temperature of objects or surfaces. Each pixel continuously measures the temperature and can serve as an alarm criterion. These precise measurements are also possible from a great distance outdoors, as well as in complete darkness and through aerosols. The recorded temperature values are displayed in a thermal image, making potential dangers immediately visible and allowing embers to be recognised at an early stage before they develop into a fire. This ensures early fire detection even under difficult conditions. In addition to the thermal sensor, the dual camera also has an optical sensor that provides a high-resolution video image for verification.

Maximise your benefits with the radiometric dual camera
  • Image sensors: Thermal for detection and visual (day/night) for verification.
  • Robust: Operates at -40 to 65 °C (IP66, IK04).
  • Autonomous: Intelligent camera technology with edge computing.
  • Fast: 9 images/measurements per second.
  • Versatile: Up to 20 individually configurable measurement windows (measuring range of-40 to 550 °C).
  • Certified: EN 54-10.
  • Integrated: Schrack Seconet X-LINE loop
  • Event tracking: Alarm recordings onboard.
  • False alarm reduction: Individual or recommended validation app.
  • Remote inspection: Web browser (possible with Schrack Seconet router).
  • Alerting: Fire alarm system or integrated loudspeaker.
  • Simple: Preconfigured for faster commissioning.
Seamless integration into the Schrack Seconet system architecture

The thermal camera enables time-saving installation thanks to the proven pre-configuration. This means it can be quickly and easily integrated into the Schrack Seconet system architecture.

Early detection in the course of a fire

Thermography-based detectors recognise the heat development of fires in the initial phase, even before smoke or flames become visible. This early detection of the fire risk enables rapid intervention to stop fires or, in the best case, prevent them altogether.

Efficient project planning with digital tools

A thermal camera is planned similarly to an optical camera, particularly concerning the monitoring area. Digital tools such as JVSG provide valuable support:

  • Optimum camera position by visualising the coverage areas
  • Precise planning in the floor plan
  • Checking the field of view and identifying dead zones for each camera
Success story from the field

Thermal video fire detection can be used in various industries and applications, from recycling plants, waste disposals, and wood processing facilities to warehouses, battery storage facilities, and historic buildings. A concrete example is the recycling plant in Linköping, Sweden, which is confronted with a high fire risk from overheated, shredded tires. The use of the cameras, which generate both, thermal images and a visual stream, enables precise monitoring, early detection, and visual verification of the alarm event. By adapting the algorithm, deceptive variables such as those from lorries and machines could be filtered out. This ensured reliable detection and prevented false alarms, significantly increasing the safety and efficiency of the system.

Thermal video fire detection offers a reliable and innovative solution for early fire detection in challenging environments. With its precise temperature monitoring and versatile application possibilities, it protects valuable resources and increases the safety of your facilities.
